How the Harper Government Committed a Knowledge Massacre

So the Harper Government is essentially burning books now; how very Nazi of you, Harperittes.

I’m suddenly reminded of the first time I read Fahrenheit 451 as a young teenager. There were many horrors in that book, to be sure, but to my literature-loving heart, the book burning was the most heart breaking of all. And now, the “real life” Harper government has decided to purge the world of hundreds of books. Huffington Post reports: “The massacre was done quickly, with no record keeping and no attempt to preserve the material in universities. Scientists said precious collections were consigned to dumpsters, were burned or went to landfills.”

Hundreds of years worth of records, research, observations have been destroyed by the Canadian government.

I’m thoroughly disgusted, shocked, and beyond saddened at this literary genocide.
